Our story
Unleashing cultural and creative opportunities for everyone across Newham.
We aim to shape, together with everyone, a culture in Newham that represents all of the diverse creative talent that sits within each and every one of us. We hope to inspire community-led change in how people in Newham access, make, experience and curate culture and creativity. We hold community voices and collective decision-making at the heart of everything we do, and so at every level our programme is shaped by the dreams and desires of local residents.
Community Voices Panel
Our Community Voices Panel is made up of 18 local residents from a wide cross-section of the borough, who play a central role in shaping our programme.
They make decisions on which projects we work on, which commissions we fund, and which communities we focus on in Newham.
Their networks and expertise of their local areas are crucial to helping us create a programme that is truly for and by the people of Newham.

Culture Within Newham is one of 39 programmes across England funded by Arts Council England to address cultural inclusion.
This Creative People and Places funding focuses on parts of the country where involvement in creativity and culture is significantly below the national average.
The funding helps empower residents to decide what kind of creative activity they want to experience on their doorstep.
We receive additional funding from the Royal Docks Team, as well as from the London Borough of Newham Council. The Creative People and Places funding was secured for Newham by cultural alliance Creative Newham. All of these organisations, along with East Bank, are affiliates of Culture Within Newham.
