Cooking Connections - Book Launch

Share recipes with tasty samples, alongside stories, poetry, song at the launch of a new recipe book filled with stories from older Newham residents. This cookbook launch is organised by Jazanne Arts as part of Cooking Connections, a project commissioned by Culture Within Newham.

The event will include drama, song, poetry, food demos and readings from the new book. It will be an interactive and entertaining experience, where the audience will be offered refreshments, including tasters from a couple of the recipes featured in the book. There will be plenty of opportunity to mix and socialise with other residents from Newham and to get a copy of the book.

Access

The Swift Youth Centre is next door to the Memorial Community Church. There is restricted parking at the centre. There is on-street parking but some restrictions apply on weekdays and weekends.

  • There is a bus stop within 150m (164yds) of the venue. Buses include: 5, 115, 276, 330, 241, 325, 678

  • The nearest National Rail station is West Ham.

  • The nearest underground station is Plaistow/Canning Town.

  • The nearest DLR station is Canning Town.

Access: Outside, the accessible entrance is the door to the right of the building, there is a portable ramp without a handrail. The width of the ramp/slope is 89cm (2ft 11in).We can provide assistance to enter to the building.

There is level access inside the building and an acccessible toilet.

Motorised scooters are welcomed in public parts of the venue.
