Bake It! Werk It!
Overview
'Bake it, Werk it!' is one of the 'Unexpected Partnership' commissions and is a partnership between Social Convention and Loaf.ly.
Together they came up with the idea of combining a traditional market stall with a pop-up performance stage, that brings queer cultural activity to public places while challenging heteronormative city spaces. Blurring the lines between retail and performance, audiences can sample delicious bakery items, share home baking tips, and be captivated by song, circus, and cabaret arts.
‘Bake it, Werk it!’ has so far visited Royal Wharf market and a pop-up market in Thames Barrier park. Coming up are visits to Queen’s Market in Upton Park, Stratford Market, Royal Albert Wharf Market and Forest Gate Market. More dates are will be confirmed soon.
Go have a giggle and leave with a bun or two!
