People of a variety of ages are sat around tables in a community space. They are making art together

Overview

Newham Mosaic is a multi-art form project offering workshops and events which allow people to explore the impact of African cultures in Newham. By engaging with members of the African diaspora, as well as the wider community, Mosaic hopes to open up conversations and build connections.

So far, Mosaic’s programme has included:

  • Cooking Connections, sessions which bring people together over food and conversation,

  • A drumming workshop, and,

  • Intergenerational craft workshops in Canning Town.

Newham Mosaic will culminate in an multimedia exhibition celebrating the work made throughout the project, and sharing photos and videos of people’s experiences which have been captured throughout the project. Additionally, a digital space has been developed as a permanent home for this work and a place where people can continue to connect.
