Wonderful Women of Newham: Walking Tours
by Elena Juzulenaite, produced by Rosanagh Fuller
Text by Mo Oguntuase, Assistant Producer at Culture Within Newham
Take a stroll through Newham and learn about the wonderful women who helped to shape our local community.
‘Wonderful Women of Newham’ is an immersive walking tour which tells the story of the female workers in Newham’s industrial centres, while also providing education on Canning Town’s importance in women’s rights movements like the Suffragette movement. The map for ‘Wonderful Women of Newham’ was illustrated by Elena Juzulenaite and produced by Rosanagh Fuller.
The map was initially commissoned by Newham Heritage Month. Culture Within Newham commissioned these artists to recreate the map, and to run an illustration workshop, which was open to all ages.
A large copy of one of the maps is now outside the Community Links building in Canning Town. When the building is open, you can pick up a free printed copy of Trail One at reception:
